SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
The goal of this community-based project is to initiate meaningful conversations about the act of placemaking. Participants will share their knowledge and spark focused dialogue. The project is designed with all stakeholders in mind from funders to community members. The site for the project is Zoo Lake, Johannesburg, which is situated north of the central business district adjacent to the suburbs of Parkview and Saxonwold. In 1904 the land was donated to the city y Herman Eckstein who stated that the park around the lake should be “a park for the people”.
